Ontario offers several types of driving records, and the access rules are not identical for each one. That distinction matters when an employer, insurer or other third party asks for information about a driver.
Can another person order an Ontario 3-year driver record?
According to Ontario guidance, anyone can order a 3-year driver record if they provide the driver licence number. This record contains driver identification details, the demerit-point total, and certain convictions, suspensions and reinstatements from the previous three years.
The 3-year record does not include the driver residential address. Ontario limits address information on most driver products as part of its privacy protections.
How is a driver licence history different?
A driver licence history has different access rules. Ontario states that it can be ordered by the driver themselves or by a Canadian law-enforcement agency. It focuses on licence history rather than recent convictions: it can include replacements, renewals, class changes and beginner-driver education information. When ordered online or by mail, it can also include past and current residential addresses.

Does a 3-year abstract show everything about a driver?
No. A 3-year driver record is not a complete lifetime driving file. Ontario offers separate 5-year, extended and complete records for situations requiring longer or more detailed histories. A complete record can include additional information such as collisions, addresses and licence changes.
