When someone asks for an Ontario driver abstract, it is easy to focus only on convictions or demerit points. Ontario driving records also contain important driver-identification and licence details. Understanding those fields can help you confirm whether the document you are ordering is suitable for an employer, insurer or other organization.
What licence details appear on Ontario driving records?
According to Ontario guidance, common driver records include identification details such as the driver’s name, driver’s licence number, date of birth, sex, height, licence class, expiry date, licence status, earliest licence date available, and applicable conditions or endorsements.
Licence class identifies the class of vehicle the person is licensed to drive. Licence status can indicate whether the person is licensed, unlicensed or suspended. Conditions and endorsements can include requirements or permissions associated with the licence, such as corrective-lens requirements or an air-brake endorsement.
Is this the same as conviction information?
No. Licence identification details and driving-history events are different parts of a record. Ontario says its common 3-year driver record also includes the demerit-point total and specified convictions, suspensions and reinstatements for the applicable three-year period.

Does a 3-year driver record show your address?
No. Ontario states that the 3-year driver record does not include the driver’s residential address. A driver’s licence history is a different product and can contain past and current residential addresses when ordered through certain delivery methods.
Check the requested document before ordering
Ask the requesting organization for the exact name of the record it needs, whether it must be certified, and whether it needs a particular period of driving history. Ontario offers several driver-record products, and their contents are not interchangeable.
